Today I was bed ridden. Here is what I did:
-slept
-Madeline brought me medicine and I took it.
-read from The Great Gatsby
-watched a movie
-did nothing
-ate food
-coughed and sneezed

It was not fun. I better be well tomorrow.

I began the day by working with Camille in Kitty City. We cleaned the cat boxes, swept the floor, cleaned the crates, mopped the floor, and brought in two new cats. Camille and I get to name them! One is all black and the other in an orange, white, and black calico.
Unfortunately, I was sent/ chose to go back to the intern house instead of going to the open dog park with the girls and all of Pasado's dogs because I have a cold. I've been sneezing up and storm and I made some stupid/funny mistakes during the time I was at Kitty City. It was obvious that I was not "all there" today and definitely not fit to watch a dog for a couple of hours. I took a nice two hour nap and woke up feeling more clear headed.
Tomorrow I will return to my shift using, hopefully, my full mental capacity.

Today was another day off so we went to Pike's Place in Seattle and thrifted is Monroe again.

Today was one of our days off. Camille and Natalia decided to help at a mobile spay and Neuter station and, since there was not enough room for all 4 of us, Madeline and I spent part of the day thrifting and wandering around Monroe and Sultan. We successfully bought some clothes, books, and fresh sweet bread. I ended my day with a nap since I'm feeling a little under the weather, but it was a nice nap.

Today Camille and I took on the Dog Town tasks while Nat and Madeline took on Kitty City. We fed each dog and cleaned each enclosure.
Rusty, a blind Coon Hound, has diabetes, so we had to test his blood sugar levels to determin if he needed to be fed again or not. His blood sugar levels change frequently and the staff here at Pasado's has been trying to regulate it for a while. They seem to have regulated it.
Then, we were introduced to some of the pigs that hold residence here. Amy, the dog lead, showed us some pigs rescued from a fire. Two of the pigs are really small and Amy doesn't know what type of pigs they are, but they are cute none the less.
Lastly, for our shift, we went to Riner, mucked some stalls, and pet some horses.
Afterwards, we went to a volunteer meeting where there were many stories to be told and people to be introduced too. Lots of free, delicious, food.

Guess what I did today... Kitty City. Camille and I did the same routine in Kitty City as we did yesterday and then took Natalia and Madeline with us to Riner, the horse stables. We mucked the stables and groomed one horse named Wall-e. When we finished at Riner, we ended our shifts back at the main farm. It rained and hailed heavily today so we all wore our raincoats.

Today we were assigned animal care shifts. Camille and I went to Kitty City and cleaned the different sections.
Section one:
This is the first room you walk into with all of the disease and infection free cats. We cleaned the litter boxes, refreshed the blankets and waters, and mopped the floors.
Section two:
This is the room with the cats that basically have herpes. We did the same with this room.
Section three:
This room has the cats with AIDS or FIV. Camille cleaned this room.

We played with all of the social cats and had a lot of fun.

On a side note: it is absolutely beautiful here and I never want to leave.

Our first day included (but was not limited to):
- waking up early
- getting free smoothies from Pete's Coffee because their cash registers broke down
- flying from SD to Washington
- getting picked up by Mike and driven to Pasado's
- surprised with gift baskets
- driven to the grocery store and bought groceries
- treated to DQ
- given a tour of Pasado's
- taken out to see the cows and pigs
- driven to a bakery and hiked with Dana and two dogs, gazelle and feivel, to a waterfall.
- made dinner and slept like babies

My name is Morganne Sigismonti. I'm a senior at High Tech High international. For Externship, we are traveling to Sultan, Washington to intern at Pasado's Safe Haven, an animal rescue farm, for twoand a half weeks. There, we will be working with their animals learning about what exactly they do. I'm very excited!
